Winter Sun

Daphne
I frightened two New Holland honey eaters this morning, breakfasting on the nectar from the daphne in the courtyard. Considering it is a closed in garden room the overpowering perfume must be able to be detected from outside.  The last two mornings there has been the most inviting winter sunshine but upon investigation outside there is still frost on the ground. Seed germination is slow, spinach seedlings are appearing but no sight as yet of the purple and yellow podded peas. But alas the weeds are not so slow!
Even though I am unable to find the time to garden today, I can enjoy the sweet perfume of the daphne wafting through the house.
